Love WWE? Well, today is your lucky day, because Glasgow is hosting TWO huge events this June, making it the first-ever WWE Premium Live show in Scotland. Fans are in for plenty of drama, including the appearance of Ayr-born Drew McIntyre.
The WWE Premium Live event was last hosted in Cardiff in 2022, welcoming 60,000 wrestling enthusiasts to one place. And now, the show is coming to the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow on June 15, set to host 14,000 WWE fans from all over the UK. And let us tell you, weegies will show them how it’s done!
What is more, a SmackDown event will be broadcast from the OVO Hydro on June 14 the day before the live event.
Quite a few WWE superstars have emerged from Scotland, including Drew McIntyre, Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, Piper Niven, Nikki Cross, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang and Noam Dar, so we are in for a real treat this June.
It has been around eight years since the last time WWE recorded a global event in Glasgow, which was for the Monday Night Raw programme, which was also filmed at the OVO Hydro Arena.
President Nick Khan said: “We are excited to bring both Friday Night SmackDown and Clash at the Castle to our amazing fans in Scotland at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow this June. The world will see that this is one of the UK’s best venues and Scottish crowds are some of the loudest, craziest and most passionate on the planet.”
