Yoga is a centuries-old practice that westerners have adopted for its balancing effects on the mind, body and soul. It is said the aim of yoga is not just physical: it is also self-realisation that leads to less suffering and inner freedom. With its increasing popularity, the choices for yoga classes may seem endless, but you can now attend a free yoga and journaling session, Yo-Ga In The Sky, at YOTEL’s rooftop venue VEGA on Tuesdays at 7:30am.
The classes will run between September 20 and October 11 and will be hosted by the yoga guru Jess Mackenzie. During the serene one-hour session, guests will be delighted by a gentle vinyasa flow, followed by some self-reflective, grateful journaling. Surrounded by urban views of Glasgow’s rooftops and warm rays of sunshine (weather permitting) at VEGA, yoga lovers can unwind for some well-deserved me-time.
Whether you’re brand new to yoga or practice it every week, everyone is welcome: Jess will guide you as you’re flowing along. Jess Mackenzie is an experienced yoga instructor that has taught some of the UK’s top athletes including Olympians for Team GB and will use a holistic approach during the sessions.
When asked about her approach, Jess expressed: “I’ve found that creating new rituals is a great way to look after our energy levels, especially as we start to ease into autumn and prepare for the fast approaching busy festive season! My classes are all about self-love, positivity and personal growth. Growth happens when we try something new, so if you’ve never tried yoga or journaling, this is the perfect opportunity to put yourself first!”
What is more, yoga mats and journals will be provided, but if you are in need of any extra equipment such as yoga blocks, bring them along. After the class, breakfast is available for all YOTEL Glasgow guests.
For visitors who are looking for a wee working spacewith some views, a brand new co-working package offers unlimited tea and coffee and a morning pastry. The offer is open to anyone who arrives before 11am, so it makes for a great work-from-home alternative after a refreshing yoga session. Who knew sunrise yoga could actually wake up someone who is far from a morning person? We have left the class feeling set for the day and you will too!
