It doesn’t get cheddar than this.
Glasgow is constantly being blessed with new openings and one of the best that arrived in 2020 was Babos. This eatery in Shawlands will fulfil all your cheesy carb dreams and serves oozy cheese toasties. Grilled cheese, cheese toastie, cheese on toast – whatever you choose to call it, melted cheese and bread works together. Wonderfully.
You can find the new ‘Toastie Hoose’ at the former Coffee Garden on 1117a Pollokshaws Road in the south side of Glasgow. At this spot, Babos is serving up coffee alongside cheese-tastic toasties packed full of flavours.
Every day is a gouda day since Babos opened up its doors to serve their magnificent cheese toasties with fantastic coffee courtesy of Glasgow’s Ovenbird Coffee Roasters. Whether you’re peckish before work or in need of a hangover cure or both, a cheese toastie from Babos should be a perfect start to your day.
The team behind the new cafe said: “If you’re looking for some non wanky cheesy goodness then come see us to get your fill or if you’re just in it for the Instagram picture of a cheese pull…that’s fine too.” Here at Secret Glasgow, we do love a good cheese pull.
Expect epic flavours including their cheese toastie filled with macaroni, Babos cheese blend and breadcrumbs, plus optional black pudding or bacon. Their Mac and Cheese Toastie is available with or without black pudding and served on toasted sourdough bread- “giving the southsiders what they want.”
The ‘Toastie Hoose’ offer over 11 tasty toastie flavours ranging from £4.50 to £6.95 and they are definitely not holding back on the cheese. Toastie flavours include salt and chilli chicken, roasted red peppers, spring onions and sriracha; vegan cheese, tomato, pesto and rocket; Babos blend, BBQ pulled beef and onions; Babos blend, chorizo, jalapenos, roasted red peppers and rocket, and more.
Plus, Babos has even added a toastie gamechanger with one toasted sandwich including a fried egg, as well as Babos cheese blend, ham and spring onion. Babos have limited seating available but you can of course get your cheese toastie to go. They have also added shakes to their menu, as well as soups which you are able to dip that bready, cheesy goodness into.
