Shoving one’s face with pizza is one of our favourite past times, with plenty of fantastic spots to choose from around Glasgow. However, one particular place received special recognition recently, with Scottish chain Civerinos being named one of the best pizzas in the world.
Civerinos has branches in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, with the Glasgow restaurant only just opened on Radnor Street in January 2025. According to Time Out, Civerinos is one of the best pizzas in the world, with their New Haven-style pizzas stealing the show. What is more, the spot is the only one in Scotland that serves New Haven-style pizzas!
Civerinos fought off the competition from around the world and came in 13th on the list, with their New Haven-style pizza grabbing the food critics’ attention. The pizzas feature a traditional thin, charred crust, and the dough base is crafted by their in-house experts using 00 flour, high-quality extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and, of course, Scottish water (which is, obviously, the best in the world). The dough is then proven for 96 hours before the New Haven-style pizzas can be baked.
In response, the Civerinos team said they were “Full of gratitude and grated cheese,” and thanked Time Out “For giving us our flowers”.
However, New Haven-style pizza is not the only highlight at Civerinos. The spot boasts the well-loved New York-style pizzas, as well as Detroit-style square pizzas. Plus, the menu is completed with a selection of sharing dishes for the table – and you MUST try the Crispy Gnocchi with red or green pesto.
At Secret Glasgow, we preferred the New York-style pizza to the New Haven-style, with the Roast chicken & wild mushrooms on marinara with homemade pesto and parmesan pizza stealing the show. However, the New Haven-style pizzas are great for those who prefer a crispier feel, as they come as thin as you can imagine! Try the Anchovies and Black Olives on marinara pizza with parsley and pecorino for a wee dance of flavours and texture.
