We love the Subway and the trains, but sometimes we just need a good ol’ bus ride to get us exactly where we need to go. With most bills and prices going up in April, First Bus has officially announced they will not be raising the ticket prices this year for most fares.
First Bus has released its prices for the new financial year, with the hopes of increasing passenger numbers and services, as well as encouraging commuters to choose the company. The operator confirmed the Tap On Tap Off payment method will stay the same for both single and weekly tickets when paying onboard.
What is more, both onboard and in-app ticket prices will maintain their current rates for two-trip, day ticket bundle, week and four-week tickets.
However, for passengers purchasing single, day and month-plus tickets on the First Bus app, the prices will see a price increase of 3% starting on March 31. So, basically, if you need a single or a day ticket, just buy it onboard.
Duncan Cameron, managing director of First Bus Scotland, told STV: “The updates to our ticketing structure are essential to allow us to continue to deliver and grow our services across the city.”
“Despite facing significant cost increases across our operations, we have worked hard to freeze a significant number of ticket products to ensure we continue to attract more customers to using our services.”
“We know there will be significant increases in fares across alternative modes of public transport so being able to freeze so many of our popular ticketing options, at their current prices, shows our commitment to our customers to provide them with one of the cheapest, most convenient and sustainable ways of traveling around Glasgow.”
So, overall, we see this as a hugely positive update: as the people of Glasgow are seeing plenty of price increases, First Bus has officially come through with freezing its ticket prices.
