Once again, Glasgow made it onto another two lists of being the best. We’re not surprised, because, well, Glasgow IS the best. This time it has been named the the friendliest and the second best city in the UK, according to Conde Nast Traveller, only beaten by Cambridge.
The survey asked CN Traveller readers to name the 51 UK cities they thought were the best. Of course, Glasgow scored amazingly and so did Cambridge: Glasgow lost only by 1.48 points. London went down the ranks to third place since last year, Edinburgh comfortably took fourth place and Cardiff fifth. Believe it or not, we only beat London by 0.24 points!
hat is more, 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards also crowned Glasgow as the friendliest city in the UK. Glasgow has long been a place that not only is uber welcoming but also treats visitors as their own. With a mix of various cultures, languages and ethnicities, Scotland’s biggest city is home to many people from all over the globe, as well as born and bred weegies.
Making friends for adults is also an easier task than it would be in cities such as Edinburgh or London, as you can just strike up a conversation at a bus stop and it’s considered completely normal.
As for the CN Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, it is one of the more prestigious awards in the world, surveying thousands of people every year. In the UK, it has been going strong since 1998 and is still looked up to within the travel industry to this day.
So, we will gladly take the two wins, and there was no doubt in our minds that we would make it to the top as the UK’s friendliest city. And on top of that, we were also dubbed the second best city in the UK!
