Finally, some good news when it comes to Glasgow Loves Christmas Fairs! George Square and St Enoch Square will see Christmas Fairs transforming Glasgow city centre into a true festive wonderland and replacing the cancelled Christmas market. On top of the Christmas Lights Switch-On on November 20, we will see an ice rink, observation wheel, ice climbing wall and more this December when two Christmas Fairs open to the public.
First to open on the agenda will be the St Enoch Square Christmas Fair on November 18, offering thrill-seekers an attraction capable of reaching speeds of up to 70mph, called The Blizzard, and an ice climbing wall where guests will be invited for a wee local adventure.
Little visitors will be overjoyed to hear that Santa’s runaway train will be taking passengers aboard to North Pole, as well as being able to enjoy bungee trampolines, a trail funhouse and a helter-skelter. Street food stalls will also be serving some well-anticipated festive faves, such as a marshmallow toasting station and a Bavarian moose bar and swing grill.
And on December 1, George Square Christmas Fair will open its doors, offering visitors a glide on the central ice rink. Ice skaters will be invited for a 45-minute session every hour, where up to 150 guests will be making some well-earned Christmas time memories. You can book your ice rink tickets here, and if you’d prefer a more neurodivergent friendly ambience with reduced noise and less people, you can book a ticket here.
Moreover, George Square will become a temporary home to a 33-metre-high observation wheel with Venetian chairs boasting urban sights of central Glasgow. The Christmas Fair will also feature a free entertainment stage, Victorian carousel, Santa’s flying balloons, children’s Christmas train ride, a street food hub, festive-themed bar, Bavarian swing grill and a uber instagrammable snow globe. The news of Glasgow Loves Christmas Fairs has us all overjoyed – Christmas has been saved!
Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren, said:
