Finally, some good news when it comes to Glasgow Loves Christmas Fairs! George Square and St Enoch Square see Winterfest Christmas markets transforming Glasgow city centre into a true festive wonderland and replacing the cancelled Christmas market. On top of the Christmas Lights Switch-On on November 19, we saw an ice rink, festive bars, rides and more this December and January when two Christmas markets opened to the public.
Winterfest at St Enoch Square
The first to open on the agenda is the St Enoch Square on November 10, lasting up until December 30, 2023.
Little visitors will be overjoyed to hear that Santa’s runaway train will be taking passengers aboard to the North Pole and enjoy some other fun rides while there. Of course, visitors can expect a festive bar on top of the stalls and rides, so fear not, for there will be plenty of mulled wine to go around. There will also be a new platform for local artists and entry to the event is free.
Winterfest at George Square
And on November 25, George Square Christmas market opened its doors, offering visitors a glide on the central ice rink, and will stay until January 4.
Moreover, the Glasgow Winterfest Christmas market will feature an ice rink, festival bar, rides, attractions, live music, a silent disco, a main wheel, a carousel and festive stalls for everyone to enjoy. What is more, a new community hub organised by local charity The Clutha Trust is set to be introduced, designed to showcase local artists and performers.
Performers of all kinds and other talented creatives can get involved and book a performance slot by emailing enquiries@mneventsltd.com.
For those wanting to pre-book, the ice rink tickets go on sale on Itison from November 21.
Speaking ahead of the opening, a spokesperson for M&N said: “This year, Glasgow Winterfest promises to be the ultimate destination for festive fun, offering a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary holiday experiences. Join us in George Square and St Enoch Square as we celebrate the magic of the season.”
