TikTok sensation and TV chef, Jimmy Lee, has expanded his Cantonese food business with a second Lychee Oriental Southside in Shawlands. The beloved restaurant offers modern Asian cuisine, with an extensive menu created in collaboration with Chef himself.
Located on Kilmarnock Road and taking over the Salt & Chilli restaurant site, the new Lychee Oriental Southside is the second Glasgow branch, with the original branch situated on Mitchell Street. The restaurant opened its doors on Wednesday, April 30 , offering a trendy decor accompanied by traditional flavours with innovative Cantonese culinary techniques.
The Lychee Oriental Southside menu boasts oriental favourites, such as Chicken Satay, Pulled Aromatic Duck, Thai Style Sweet ‘n’ Chilli Tiger Prawns, Crispy Monkfish, Kung Pao Chicken, Stir-fried Beef & Black Bean Sauce, Twice cooked Pork Belly and Chargrilled Rib-eye Beef. The restaurant spans over two floors and seats 55 guests, with the interior mirroring the original Lychee Oriental.
Chef Jimmy Lee commenced his career working in his dad’s takeaway when he was 16 before building his business. On top of the successful Salt & Chilli restaurants, he also owns Shanghai Oriental and Leith Wok, alongside Lychee Oriental. What is more, the award-winning Chef has a colourful career in TV, appearing on the BBC’s Great British Menu, Channel 4’s My Kitchen Rules and regularly presenting cookery segments on popular ITV programmes such as This Morning show.
Lychee Oriental Chef Patron Jimmy Lee said: “Lychee Oriental is more than just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of the diverse cultures and flavours that inspire me. I want to create a dining experience that brings people together and allows them to explore a range of tastes in a warm and inviting atmosphere. With the opening of our second Glasgow location in Shawlands, Lychee Oriental continues to grow in my home city.”
