A mystery multi-million-pound event is coming to Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum this Christmas, organised by the same people behind GlasGLOW and itison Drive-In Movies.
As Elfingrove ice rink was cancelled in 2023, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum has not seen any big festive events like it since.
The new mystery event promises plenty of festive splendour, with the details still under wraps, taking a few years to reimagine. Guests can expect to hear more by the end of the summer, and the massive event will run from November.
What is more, the new project is set to create over a hundred seasonal jobs across production, hospitality, operations and guest experience, while bringing tens of thousands of additional visitors into the city during the Christmas period.
Oli Norman, founder and CEO of itison, said: “It’s taken us a couple of years to reimagine what a uniquely Glaswegian spectacle at Kelvingrove could look like. We’ve been travelling around the world experiencing some of the best events for inspiration.
“Glasgow deserves a premium Christmas event of real quality and ambition, something the whole city can feel proud of, and I can’t wait to unveil the scale of what we have in store. This is a significant investment that will create over a hundred new jobs and bring real benefit to the city, but most importantly, we hope it will become a Christmas tradition that families return to year after year.”
Billy Garrett, Director of Culture, Tourism and Events at Glasgow Life, said: “Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum holds a special place in the hearts of people across Glasgow and beyond, and itison’s new event will bring a fresh festive experience to one of our most treasured venues. We look forward to welcoming audiences of all ages to enjoy this unique new addition to Glasgow’s Christmas programme.”
