Taking festive flavours to a whole new level for the occasion, Glasgow’s imaginative chefs have come up with some absolute belters this Christmas – from festive-themed toasties to actual Christmas dinners on a pancake- which can only be described as weird and wonderful. Check out some of the best festive food to try this December in Glasgow, because surely it shouldn’t be confined to one day of the year.

1. El Perro Negro’s Festive Burger

One restaurant introducing a Christmas special for the festive season is the winners of the National Burger Awards 2019 and 2021, El Perro Negro. The Glasgow restaurant, which is officially home to the best burger in the UK – the infamous Top Dog, is trying to go one better this festive season by combining some of the best components served on Christmas Day into one tasty burger. Available at their Woodlands Road restaurant, burger fans can enjoy tender deep fried southern style chicken, house chestnut stuffing, double bacon, cranberry jam with lashings of mouth watering chicken gravy. That’s right, a burger drenched in gravy and all the ingredients are sandwiched between El Perro Negro’s in house demi-brioche buns. Phwoar!

Stack & Still’s signature buttermilk stack is topped with slices of succulent roast turkey, maple sprouts with smoked bacon, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce and lashings of gravy. For sweet pancake lovers, Stack & Still has also created pancakes that give an ode to Tunnock’s Snowballs- ginger, clove and cinnamon pancakes topped with Snow Balls, mascarpone, winter fruit compote, mint, icing sugar and toffee sauce.

Lunch Glasgow, the creators of the infamous hangover cure that is the breakfast wrap, have only gone and smashed it again with this dish. The Glasgow cafe has taken our favourite trimming of the Christmas roast that is pigs in blankets and loaded them on top of its tasty fries. However, these fantastic fries are not only laden with pigs in blankets but also crispy bacon bits and macaroni cheese, a staple on Lunch Glasgow’s menu featuring in both their toasties and burgers too. Plus, Lunch Glasgow has introduced another Yuletide dish that is a baked camembert cranberry mozzarella toastie on the menu and it’s possibly the gooiest toasted sandwich you’ll ever see.
