Christmas is edging closer which means we’re entering the season of pigs in blankets- as much as we like the turkey, you can’t deny that pigs in blankets are the stars of the Christmas dinner show. And to get us in the mood for the festive season, one Glasgow cafe has taken our favourite trimming of the Christmas roast to top its tasty fries with. Yes, that’s right, loaded pigs in blankets fries.
Lunch Glasgow, the creators of the infamous hangover cure that is the breakfast wrap, have only gone and smashed it again with this dish. The cafe on Great Western Road revealed these fries as part of their festive menu set to launch come December, which will include three other specials.
However, these fantastic fries are not only loaded with pigs in blankets but also crispy bacon bits and macaroni cheese, a staple on Lunch Glasgow’s menu featuring in both their toasties and burgers too. Announcing this new addition to their menu, Lunch Glasgow wrote: “Nae Christmas markets. Nae issue. 2 out of 4 of our Christmas specials that will be available come December.”
And the cafe is not wrong. This savoury treat is quite the warming Yuletide dish to fuel our Christmas shopping on a cold day in Glasgow. The festive fries will also be joined by a baked camembert cranberry mozzarella toastie on the menu and it’s possibly the gooiest toasted sandwich you’ll ever see, with two more specials to be revealed soon.
The team at Lunch Glasgow are forever coming up with new and intriguing delights for us to feast on, and last Christmas saw a pretty phenomenal creation launched for the festive season known as The Buble Box. It consisted of a giant burger filled with buttermilk fried chicken alongside Christmas classics such as cranberry sauce, stuffing, streaky bacon, gravy and an oh-so-gooey centred deep-fried, breaded camembert puck. The question is, will it make a return?
