It’s hard not to feel like “the chosen one” when a cat decides to sit on your lap letting you pet it, singling you out of a dozen people to be honoured with its affection. Until you try to stand up. Do not dare to stand up, you’re on cat time now… Well, the regal presence of cats is felt in a brand new cat cafe in Glasgow, Meow Cafe, with the full details yet to be announced.
An application for a cat cafe was submitted to the council in October, 2023 for 12 Woodlands Road in the West End in Glasgow. And now, signs have been officially spotted of cat ramps (or whatever those climbing things are) in the window of the building, with cat paw handles on the door. The cat cafe plan has gone ahead and the spot opened its doors on April 19, so let’s get officially excited!
Within the application, owner Jack Zhu proposed opening hours between 9am and 6pm and said: “Customers are able to enjoy light refreshments in a calm environment while interacting with the resident cats.”
Booking in advance is recommended, with the experience lasting one hour and including an entrance fee. The staff will then give guests the house rules which involve putting cat-themed shoe covers and respecting the animal’s space. To call Meow Cafe, guests can dial 0141 286 0486.
No hot food is set to be served within the cafe, just cakes, croissants, as well as tarts, and light refreshments, as well as coffee. The spot will feature cat play areas, encouraging visitors to interact with the cats. There are cat toys as well as plenty of space for the pets to roam and hide.
Meow Cafe has been sharing adorable pictures of their animals, with cats of all colours and sizes thoroughly delighting visitors. So, let’s show them some love!
