As music lovers have been looking forward to the biggest electronic music festival to take the city by storm this May Bank Holiday weekend, the organisers have announced the sad news of Riverside Festival being cancelled earlier this month.
Riverside Festival has announced the event has been cancelled on its social media accounts due to “rising costs”. As a result, the festival will no longer take place on May 25 and 26, with customers have been advised to receive their refunds shortly.
What is more, Riverside Festival has promised two music events at the same venue on August 31 and September 1 with the line-up yet to be revealed.
The organisers said: “It is with deep regret and heavy hearts that we’ve taken the extremely difficult decision to cancel this year’s Riverside Festival. With lower-than-expected sales and increased infrastructure, staff, transport, and artist costs, all in an over-saturated event landscape, we could not deliver the festival to our usual high standards.”
“We understand how upsetting this is for those of you who have bought tickets, and we sincerely thank you all for your continued support.”
