Get your fangs around these doughnuts!
The leaves in Glasgow are gradually changing from shades of green to oranges, reds and browns as autumn gets well and truly underway, which also means Halloween is fast approaching. And Glasgow bakery Tantrum Doughnuts is getting on board the autumn train by offering a range of special edition doughnuts that are the epitome of the season and haunting celebration.
Bursting full of seasonal ingredients, these treats by the popular Glasgow shop are sure to get you fully immersed in the season of fallen leaves, auburn hues and spooky festivities. Glaswegians can now indulge in six different Halloween-themed doughnuts until the end of October and they are available from both their Old Dumbarton Road shop and their Gordon Street shop.
Tantrum Doughnuts has three types of doughnut doughs for you to choose from – their signature fluffy brioche, their cakey ‘old fashioneds’, and their delightful Vegan rings- all of which make a feature in their Halloween specials. The six limited edition flavours include Pumpkin Brûlée; Salted Caramel Pretzel Ring; Toffee Apple ‘Old Fashioned’; Spiced Chai Ring; Banoffee Pie Cheesecake; and Vegan Pumpkin Dulce De Leche.
The Pumpkin Brûlée is a pumpkin custard filled brioche doughnut with a torched sugar top and sprinkling of pumpkin seeds- a seasonal twist on their bestselling Crème Brûlée doughnut. As for the Salted Caramel Pretzel Ring, this is a brioche doughnut ring smothered in a smooth salted caramel milk glaze and topped with a pretzel crumb.
It’s not Halloween without a toffee apple and so Tantrum Doughnuts has created the traditional treat in doughnut form. The bakery has topped their ‘old fashioned’ cake style doughnut with a toffee apple glaze and a crumble to give a little crunch to it. For the Spiced Chai brioche ring, expect notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves, plus a warming chai glaze topped with white chocolate pearls.
The Banoffee Pie Cheesecake doughnut is made with a brioche dough which oozes out smooth banana custard and is topped with a cream cheese frosting, oat and banana crumble, as well as caramel. And lastly, vegans get their very own Halloween doughnut to devour with Tantrum Doughnuts’ Pumpkin Dulce De Leche flavour, which consists of a vegan doughnut ring dipped in a pumpkin and caramelised coconut milk glaze then topped with crumble and pumpkin seeds.
Can’t decide? We say order them all! If you order more than a dozen doughnuts you can get 10% off, and it’s definitely a treat, not a trick! And why not add a pumpkin spiced latte to your doughnut order and feel ultra autumnal? The Tantrum latte uses their own pumpkin spice syrup recipe and real pumpkin purée.
