When kids are on their summer holidays, it can be hard to come up with new things to do to keep them entertained. Water parks can provide an engaging activity for the day, suitable for people of most ages. So, whether you’re looking for traditional indoor water parks with all the slides or looking for a wee bit of a workout at a wake park, you won’t have to look far.
1. Glasgow Wake Park

We LOVE an urban wake park, and Glasgow Wake Park is the first of its kind in Scotland (yay!). While my knees have given up on me after years of wakeboarding and snowboarding, we will continue to vicariously live through you as you ride through Port Dundas Canal located 10 minutes from central Glasgow. On top of wakeboarding, guests can also hire a SUP (stand up paddleboard) to take on their adventures outside of the city. While experienced wakeboarders can just get a wee 20-minute session for £22 (believe us, you’re dead after those 20 minutes), beginners can start with lessons to work their courage up and learn the ropes. Plus, there is a decent student discount, too!

Hamilton Water Palace is beloved by both children and adults, with a pirate ship, flumes and tire rides at the ready, as well as a proper 25m indoor pool for those needing a good swim. The Pirate Play Ship boasts interactive water features, keeping the little ones busy while adults can enjoy some rides.

The Time Capsule in Coatbridge is a water park, as well as an ice rink. The Time Capsule offers an abundance of rides and features, such as the 10m high Storm Chasers, Thunder and Lightning with their amazing twisting twin flumes, as well as the Tsunami wave pool. Guests can also enjoy the huge tipping bucket (currently closed) on Splashdown Island and relax on the Riptide River, a lazy river with a rapid ending. Little ones can also find solace in Cove Island, a sheltered area where parents and children can have fun with the water with no rush. However, always remember to check the opening times on their website, as it differs during school holidays.
