Crying children, The Unknown and angry parents were all over the web from the end of February, with things having died down a little when it comes to the Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience. After the failed event that looked nothing like advertised, there was even a petition to reopen it, which received north of 7,000 signatures online. Well, now the Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience is set to be recreated in Los Angeles, starring actor and yoga teacher Kirsty Paterson who played the Oompa Loompa in the original event.
The aftermath of the event has been gaining momentum as more and more information (and memes, of course) was released in the weeks after, and the mysterious AI-created character The Unknown is even getting its own horror movie. The event was even mentioned at The House of Commons by Tory MP Penny Mordaunt!
And now, “Hangover” star Zach Galifianakis is linked to the new LA event along with comic Nathan Fieldert, having taken on the Willy Wonka Experience name as a joke with no link to the original organiser Billy Coull. The experience will take place on April 28, costing $44 (around £35), and is set to offer DJ sets and live music, as well as movie screenings and food vendors.
Ms Paterson told the Record more about the recreated Willy Wonka Experience: “I didn’t really expect to end up in the USA or to go as big as this because the USA is on a different level. I’ve not been to America before. As a trained actor it’s really exciting for me to go over there.
I’m doing a lot of meetings and a lot of networking out there. As a trained actress it’s not an impossibility that I’ll be doing movies.”
Kirsty Paterson added: “The House of Illuminati LA name is a joke. It’s not Billy Coull. I don’t do any work with him and steer clear of that for a reason. After LA I’m off to New York.”
