Whether you’re a pizza lover, a pasta enthusiast or love a good lasagne like me, Italian food provides that extra bit of comfort, warming up our hearts and stomachs. Thankfully, Glasgow is abundant in options when it comes to Italian restaurants, so let’s have a look at our favourite spots around the city.
1. Nonna Said
Nonna Said is truly worthy of snagging the top spot when it comes to the best Italian restaurants in Glasgow. It is not your usual restaurant, with cartoons playing in the background and old-school hip-hop being the soundtrack of the place, as well as some arcade games ready to be played. Guests can expect lovely cocktails on top of the stunning pizza, as well as delights like deep-fried lasagne snacks and fried carbonara balls (WHAT!).
2. Santa Lucia Pasta
The Santa Lucia brand has three Glasgow restaurants, and Santa Lucia Pasta is completely dedicated to pasta. Offering a “gastronomic journey through Italy“, the restaurant boasts plenty of parmesan, fresh on-site handmade pasta and colourful interiors.
3. Celentano’s
Celentano’s is listed on the Michelin Guide, and is also mentioned on our cheapest restaurants in Glasgow featured in the famous guide, boasting a prestigious Bib Gourmand distinction for its Italian-inspired cooking. Visitors can indulge in lunch including a glass of house wine and any small pasta for £15.50 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Meanwhile, pasta enthusiasts can enjoy a large pasta for as little as £19 for dinner, or a vegetarian dish such as kale and pumpkin seed ragu with garden herbs for £15.
4. Paesano Pizza
If you want a proper traditional Neapolitan pizza that tastes like you’re in Italy, Paesano Pizza is the place to be. Everything from ingredients, right up to the Artisan-built fire ovens have been imported straight from Italy. What is more, the spot is also number one on our best pizza guide! Honestly, the pizza is just soooo good!
5. Amore
Amore boasts an authentic Italian atmosphere and an abundant menu beyond just pizza and pasta. While we couldn’t resist a not-so-wee lasagne (which was so good, by the way), the lamb chops kind of stole the show. Oh, and did we mention there is a Nutella Fondue?!
