There are people who skip breakfast, and there are people who absolutely love it. This one’s for the breakfast lovers out there: if your favourite meal is the first one of the day, then you’ve come to the right place. So, let us show you around the very best breakfast spots around Glasgow.
1. Café Strange Brew
We just had to include this absolute gem of a spot, Cafe Strange Brew. The café is located in Glasgow’s Southside, and they serve some of the best pancakes in town, as reported by many happy customers. As hard as it is to choose from their generous pancake selection, we love stacks such as lemon and blueberry cheesecake pancakes topped with lemon curd, blueberry compote, cream cheese and a biscuit crumb, as well as a vegan pancake option of salted caramel, toasted coconut, banana, whipped cream and peanut brittle, just to give you a couple of examples. On top of the sweet treats, Cafe Strange Brew has plenty of breakfast rolls and avo toasts with all the toppings imaginable.

Kember & Jones is the place where creativity truly meets the art of cooking and baking, and one can easily notice that just by glancing over their Instagram.

3. Down To Earth Glasgow
Down To Earth is a ‘flexitarian dining‘ spot, with a mainly meat-free menu offering plenty of veggie and vegan options. Surely, the restaurant’s Instagram is one of the most colourful ones on this list – as their menu is abundant with vibrant foods like Buddha bowls, açaí bowls, plenty of toast options and breakfast brioche buns. Down to Earth uses 100% organic, fresh produce from local suppliers, many of which are start-ups. What’s more, you visitors should absolutely try the delicious vegetarian or vegan breakfast muffins. The chocolate porridge has also been a big hit, so you might need to come back more than once.

The name Scran tells us all we need to know: this Dennistoun coffee shop serves up some delicious scran, as well as decent coffee. 5. Papercup Coffee
The West End absolutely loves Papercup Coffee: it’s simple yet to the point, delicious yet not pretentious. They do rule Glasgow’s coffee scene, but should not be overlooked for breakfast, either. Opt for French toast or a pancake stack, or go for something a bit more straightforward like a breakie roll or eggs on toast. Papercup easily satisfies not only with its pretty good coffee, but also with its feel-good food menu.

6. Off The Rails
Off The Rails opened its doors for the first time in late September 2022, inviting Glaswegians over for a decent brew, delicious homemade pastries and food as well as modern décor. Located in one of Glasgow’s most iconic locations next to the refurbished Glasgow Queen Street Station, the spot has plenty of fresh cakes to choose from, and the sandwich collection is just as impressive, especially when guests can create their own. This spot is great for the morning commuters, and every time we’ve been in the service was nice and quick.

8. serendipity west
serendipity west was named Glasgow’s first Hong Kong-style french toast, so its spot on the very best breakfast in Glasgow list is well-deserved. Expect a super thick stack with your toppings of choice.
